WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO NO-GI?
The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) uniform, often referred to as a gi, is a crucial component of traditional BJJ training. However, BJJ practitioners also engage in No-Gi training, which omits the traditional gi and belt, emphasizing grappling without the cloth-based grips. While the No-Gi variant allows for a faster-paced, more fluid style, practitioners still require specific attire tailored to this unique discipline.
We recommend showing up to class with the following:

A drink bottle

Rash Guard & Shorts

Mouthguard

A fresh towels to clean up before and after training

Shoes easy to get on and off e.g. Jandals, Slides, Sandals etc
If you are starting and do not have a rash guard and shorts feel free to show up in any clothes that you would otherwise go to the gym in. We just ask for no Zips on clothing as it can cut people and the mats.
Rash Guards
Rash guards are the foundation of No-Gi attire. These snug-fitting, moisture-wicking shirts protect the skin from mat burns and provide a barrier between you and your opponent, reducing the risk of skin infections. They are typically made from a blend of spandex and polyester, offering both flexibility and durability.
Shorts & Spats
BJJ practitioners in No-Gi training often wear shorts OR spats (compression pants) . Shorts offer freedom of movement and can be worn with or without spats. Spats provide full leg coverage, reducing friction, and aiding muscle compression. We recommend shorts and spats underneath are optional
Extras for quality of training
We also recommend a few other things to help improve overall quality of training. Binging a water bottle, Mouth guard, Towel and shoes that are easy to get on and off will overall help improve your quality of training.
Ear Guards/Head gear
In No-Gi BJJ, you might come into contact with your opponent's head, potentially increasing the risk of ear injuries. Some practitioners choose to wear ear guards to protect against cauliflower ear.
