What is No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu, and how does it differ from traditional Jiu-Jitsu (Gi)?

No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu is a branch of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) that focuses on grappling techniques without the traditional gi (kimono). In No-Gi, practitioners wear rash guards, shorts or spats, and the absence of the gi means there are no collar or sleeve grips, making the style faster-paced and emphasizing body control and positional dominance.

What should I wear for No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu training?

The typical attire for No-Gi includes a rash guard, shorts or spats, and, optionally, No-Gi shorts. These clothing choices provide a tight fit, reduce friction, and prevent opponents from using your attire for grips. Additionally, a mouthguard is advisable for added safety. See our Uniform page for more specific info.
